Alexander Fountain in Pfaffenhofen

Alexanderbrunnen Pfaffenhofen

The most significant landmark of Pfaffenhofen is the Alexander Fountain dating to the year 1783. An inscription reminds us of Margrave Alexander, who took care of the needs of his subjects by financing the construction of the fountain when in 1783 the wells of the village dried up due to drought. The inscription reads: “The best of princes ALEXANDER remedied the local lack of living water in the year 1783.” Some years ago the fountain was completely renovated.

The bridge crossing the Rannach is another architectural monument of the community. It was designed by the margrave’s court architect Johann David Steingruber in 1779/80 when the road between Ansbach and Ochsenfurt was rebuilt. The bridge was renovated at the same time as the fountain.
